Styling a Trench Coat

This photo is literally me because I’ve had so many issues getting these photos uploaded to my site. No matter what I did the quality of them stayed so crappy when viewed on my laptop, but look perfectly fine on my phone. I tried resizing, optimizing them for the web in Photoshop and using a sharpening action in Photoshop. Yet here we are with pixelated photos. So if you think you could help me, please do!!

Crazy WordPress issues aside, I’m so excited about these photos! When I was transferring my blog over to WordPress this summer, I had to go through all my old posts and it made me realize how much I missed doing fashion posts. A lot of you voted for me to pick them back up again in a poll over the summer and I’ve had a few of you message me asking me to bring some styling posts to the blog. So here we are!

Trench Coat // Button-up // Jeans // Belt // Similar Oxfords

I’ve been wanting a trench coat for years. I had one when I was in elementary school because we had to wear a lot of khaki at the first few schools I went to, and I loved it. Obviously, I had to throw it out at some point since I’ve grown so much since the fourth grade.

When I saw Abigail from Belle of the Ball do a post with a trench coat I literally bought one. So shout out to her for fueling my shopping addiction. But honestly, I’ve already worn it like four or five times since I’ve bought it.

If you do get the same one as me from Old Navy, make sure you size down! I usually wear a medium but it swallowed me whole so I exchanged it for a small. It may still look big on you, but the trick is to tie the belt in the back!! I’m not very good at making it look pretty, but I’m working on it.

One reason I love trench coats so much is that they instantly make you feel put together and like a real adult with a real job. I felt super cool walking into work wearing mine for the first time. I could even wear this on casual Fridays at work! Or I could swap the jeans for some black or gray slacks and I have a work-appropriate outfit!

How do you feel about trench coats?
