Did you know that this Thursday, June 8th, is National Best Friends Day? Well now you know.
In honor of this amazing holiday, I’m going to be sharing the idea of friend dates! I’ve also been wanting to share this since I talked about how I talked about self dates a few months ago. You guys loved that so much, especially the printable with examples, so I made another one just for you! Just keep scrolling and you can snag it!
So, what are friends dates?
Well, I feel like these are much more self explanatory and much more well known than self dates, but just for the sake of this post I’m going to flesh them out a bit!
Friend dates can be a few different things: you and a friend going out and doing something you would do with a real date, you and a friend making time to just hang out together, or a bunch of friends getting together for a group date!
And no, you aren’t just “hanging out.” When you’re just “hanging out” people are more likely to get on their phones and not genuinely pay attention to you. No beuno. That’s why I think it’s important to call these friend dates, because would you play on your phone the whole time you’re on a date? Didn’t think so.
Besides what you call the act of spending time with friends, I think going out on dates with friends is extremely important for furthering your friendship. They also show your friends how much you care about them and want to spend time with them! #FriendGoals
The cool thing about friend dates, is that no one feels pressured to pay the bill. Each of you can pay your own way, or one of y’all can earn some total brownie points and pay for the other.
You and your friend could even dress up and make it a real date night! I don’t know about you, but I’m always itching to dress up and go out but never have an excuse. So I’m a huge fan of getting dolled up and going out to dinner with my friends (even though I don’t get to do it as often as I want).
Basically, friend dates are just taking anything you would do with your crush and doing it with your best friends.
Here, I even brought my friend flowers when I crashed her brunch with another friend and we both chipped in for her food. I’m not saying you have to buy your friends flowers and really pretend y’all are dating, but it does feel nice to get flowers right?
Another twist on a romantic date: ice skating! We actually went with two more friends, but I thought this picture had more snow so I chose this one.
